Moonlight People: Playlist for October 12, 2016

| Radio

It’s hard to do a radio show in a vacuum, which is why this autumn’s media mayhem is great for sparking interesting musical choices.  The interesting new artist of this week’s Bubble Wrap show was Chicago Farmer, aka Cody Dickoff (pronounced Dee-cough! — you can see why he calls himself Chicago Farmer.)  The record, Midwest Side Stories aims to be the voice of the working class, and with a lot of heart and a healthy dose of off-kilter humor, he does that.  We played Skateboard Song and Farms and Factories.

We went through a spell of excess — Edith Piaf leading off followed by Susan Hyatt’s cover of Young Americans and Oasis’ Morning Glory.  My Tribe Your Tribe stood out of pack of newer stuff.  Fun new track: Witches in a Ritual by Tenement (kind of like southern rock meets the Stones). Strange cover: TBH’s Penny Lane.

Oh, and yours truly learned that Solange is related to Beyonce!  You can see I’m a little out of touch with the mainstream, as usual.
